ACTUALITATII edició del Congrés d’Ornitologia de les Terres de Parla Catalana (COTPC)
Enguany se celebrarà a Menorca la segona edició del Congrés d’Ornitologia de les Terres de Parla Catalana (COTPC), una trobada que serveix per presentar la feina dels diferents investigadors, grups ornitològics i entitats arreu d’aquest territori, amb una ubicació geogràfica de gran interès per a l’estudi de les aus. El fil conductor del 2n COTPC són els ocells marins, als quals es dedicarà una atenció especial.
L’organització va a càrrec d’entitats sense ànim de lucre vinculades a les terres de parla catalana: el GOB Mallorca, l’Institut Català d’Ornitologia, el Grup AU de Castelló, la Societat Valenciana d’Ornitologia, el Groupe Ornithologique du Roussillon, el Centre d’Estudis de la Neu i de la Muntanya d’Andorra i la Societat Ornitològica de Menorca. Aquesta segona edició, a més, compta amb la col·laboració de l’Agència Menorca Reserva de Biosfera del Consell Insular de Menorca i el patrocini de l’Ajuntament de Maó i la Fundació per a la Preservació de Menorca.
La primera edició del COTPC, celebrada el 2018 al Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona, va ser tot un èxit: es van presentar 116 contribucions i s’hi van inscriure més de 150 persones. La qualitat del Congrés està avalada per un comitè científic. Miguel McMinn, de la Universitat de les Illes Balears, presideix el comitè de 2020, integrat per una nodrida representació de diferents institucions universitàries i d’investigació del país.
Un esdeveniment com el COPTC compleix tots els requisits del tipus d’activitats sobre les quals hi ha el consens que són beneficioses per a la nostra illa: interès científic, desestacionalització, promoció de Menorca i fer valdre els principis de la Reserva de Biosfera.
