CONFERÈNCIES SOM ESTIU – TARDOR 2015

Durant aquesta segona meitat del 2015, la Societat Ornitològica de Menorca (SOM) té previst organitzar un seguit de quatre conferències amb la col•laboració del Departament de Medi Ambient de l’ajuntament de Maó i l’Institut Menorquí d’Estudis (IME). La temàtica d’aquestes conferències estarà basada en diferents projectes que realitza o ha realitzat la SOM durant aquests darrers anys i totes aniran a càrrec de membres de l’entitat. Les conferències tindran lloc els divendres mentre que els dissabtes es realitzarà una sortida de camp per donar a conèixer in situ cadascun dels projectes i els seus resultats.
La primera d’aquestes conferències tindrà lloc el proper divendres 10 de juliol a les 20h al Pati de Ca’n Victori, a la seu de l’Institut Menorquí d’Estudis (IME). El títol d’aquesta conferència serà “La Vinjolita, un veí dels nostres pobles” i anirà a càrrec del biòleg Félix De Pablo, coordinador actual del projecte vinjolites de la SOM. Aquesta es complimentarà amb una sortida el dissabte 11 de juliol per conèixer i censar la població nidificant del poble d’Es Mercadal. La trobada es té prevista a l’aparcament d’Es Moli (Es Mercadal) a les 9h.
Les vinjolites Delichon urbicum són uns petits ocells estivals que arriben a Menorca a finals de març o principis d’abril per criar a ca nostra. Acostumen a fer nius de fang a les façanes de les edificacions. A Menorca els trobem a la major part de poblacions i a un bon nombre d’urbanitzacions de la costa sud.
Els darrers sis anys, la SOM ha coordinat un cens de la seva població. Durant aquests censos hem pogut comprovar la seva situació actual, així com el canvi evidenciat des de principis de segle. També hem estat testimoni de la controvèrsia que crea la presència d’aquests nius de fang a les façanes entre molts veïns. Mentre una part de la població se sent fascinada per aquests petits devoradors de mosquits, d’altres se senten impotents davant les molèsties que aquests nius els hi ocasionen.
En aquesta xerrada, la SOM té previst donar a conèixer la situació actual de la vinjolita a l’illa i aprofundir en els beneficis i repercussions que la cria d’aquesta espècie ocasiona als veïns, intentant aportar possibles solucions a aquestes molèsties.
Des de la SOM us volem convidar a la conferència i a la sortida d’Es Mercadal.
