SITUACIÓ DE LES AUS AQUÀTIQUES REPRODUCTORES AL PARC NATURAL DE S’ALBUFERA DES GRAU

A dins el Parc Natural de s’Albufera des Grau hi trobem dues de les zones humides més importants de l’illa pel grup de les aus aquàtiques: l’Albufera des Grau i les salines d’Addaia i Mongofra.
L’Albufera des Grau és la zona humida més gran de l’illa. A més de ser un lloc importantíssim per a les aus aquàtiques hivernants, és la localitat on es concentren un major nombre d’aquestes aus a l’època reproductora. Les seves dimensions, la seva fondària, el fet que no s’eixugui mai i l’abundància d’aliment, fan que sigui el lloc triat per reproduir-se per una gran varietat d’aus que necessiten del medi aquàtic per criar. Aquest és el cas d’espècies tan diferents com l’esquiu soterí petit, l’imponent gall faver o l’esvelt ànec de bec vermell.
Les salines d’Addaia i Mongofra, la segona zona humida en importància a dins el parc, destaca per la salinitat de les seves aigües i la seva poca fondària. Aquestes característiques conformen l’hàbitat ideal per un grup específic d’aus aquàtiques, les limícoles, aus que destaquen per les seves cames i bec llarg. Aquí hi troben la seva principal localitat de cria a l’illa els cames de jonc, el passa-rius petit i el passa-rius camanegra. També és l’única localitat de cria a l’illa pel més gran dels nostres ànecs nidificants, la bellíssima àneda blanca.
Totes aquestes raons van fer que l’any 2014, la Societat Ornitològica de Menorca (SOM) amb l’ajuda del Parc Natural de s’Albufera des Grau portés a terme un seguiment intensiu de les poblacions aquàtiques nidificants en aquestes dues zones humides. Un dels autors d’aquest estudi, el biòleg Óscar García, serà l’encarregat de donar a conèixer els resultats a la societat menorquina. L’acte tindrà lloc el proper divendres dia 18 de gener a les 20h a la sala d’actes de l’Institut Menorquí d’Estudis a Maó. De la mà de la SOM i gràcies a la col·laboració de l’ajuntament de Maó i l’IME, tindrem l’oportunitat de conèixer de ben a prop les espècies aquàtiques nidificants en aquestes dues fantàstiques localitats, així com la seva situació actual i curiositats que va revelar aquest estudi intensiu.
Aquesta conferència es complementarà amb una sortida a les salines d’Addaia el dissabte 19 de desembre. La trobada està prevista a l’aparcament del poliesportiu de Maó a les 9:00 hores.
